Plus, it means bringing out your most comfortable pieces. Your cozy sweaters, cute scarves and layered pieces that have been tucked away and forgotten the past few months.

People don't really admit this, but dressing for the Fourth of July can require some thought. Most of the time so many activities are going on I am tempted to pack a few days worth of clothing changes in order to adapt. A swimsuit is always a given, but you don't want the rest of the outfit to be too dressy or make you too hot. So for this year, I wanted to create two looks that could work for both day or night. 

CASUAL OUTFIT:

You can wear this to a parade, a bonfire or fireworks. The denim doesn't get dirty easily and the hat is a fun touch to spice it up. 

DRESSY OUTFIT:

I wouldn't classify this outfit as formal by any means, but if you want to stay cool, but still be dressed up, then this is the one for you! The maxi dress allows for movement and air, but your legs are covered at night so you aren't too cold. 

Happy Friday lovebugs! For this post I wanted to try something different (I actually didn't plan this, it just worked out beautifully) and do a post that featured items and styles from previous posts. 

To begin, you may recognize this Forever 21 top from a post I did with Aurora Peterson last August (seen here). It is so comfy and perfect for spring time because it is thick enough to keep you warm on a rainy day, but light enough that you aren't overheated. Plus the shape/size doesn't obscure your body shape and the detailing on the front gives it a feminine feel. 

The shoes (seen here) are from Target and they were in the clearance section! I love the way that they match my pants and how the two pieces add a pop of spring color to freshen up the look. 

Although these bow earrings (also from Forever 21) have not been featured in a post before, I thought they were a smooth transition from my last post and keeping with the bow theme.

It's not very often that I get to dress up and do something crazy with my look. Luckily, I have friends who humor me and a city with an abundance of fun and unusual places to go. 

Glam Doll Donuts, in Uptown Minneapolis (right down the street from The Bad Waitress, seen here), is a retro lovers dream! On a perfect day like April 25th, which is "not too hot and not too cold," a day where "all you need is a light jacket," it only made sense to break out our best spring outfits.
To go along with the vintage theme of Glam Doll, I wore a 1950's jacket/skirt combo that once belonged to my grandmother, I love that old glamour is coming back into style!

For that reason, I chose an outfit that can include all layers in order to stay warm and have removable layers to stay cool. The floral top and jeans are casual while the tan blazer and nude heels dress up the outfit. I usually opt for a tight fitting pair (skinny jeans are a personal favorite of mine), but these boyfriend jeans from Old Navy allow movement while still keeping a straight up and down shape that elongates the legs.
