The Sweltering Sweater

It truly has become a Minnesota winter the last few weeks. Between the inches of snow and sub zero degree weather, all I want to do is stay inside and cuddle up on the couch.

Even when I do go out, all I seem to want to do lately is wear an old man sweater, boots and leggings and put comfort over style.

Don't get me wrong, I am not as consistently stylish as this blog or social media portrays me to be (no one is) but I've found myself in a rut and I need to get out of it.

What's nice about this Kokoon ensemble is that it gives me that comfort and warmth that I need and has a stylish, cohesive look to it.

The Switchback Tank perfectly pairs with the Almost Gone Girl: Sharpie Pencil Skirt (which is on sale by the way!) and the Reversible Poncho Cape is not only trendy, but it is multi functional and, as the name says, reversible so you can wear it with multiple color schemes. Even if you are not living in a frozen tundra, all three of these pieces are perfect for a cool day or a dressed up fall look.

What's also nice about Kokoon is that it is a Minnesota based company. Started by designer Laine Sou Weinberg, the Kokoon brand is completely made in the USA and is ethically produced.

Please stay safe and warm out there and keep an eye out for my final Kokoon post coming out this week.

Overwhelmed with responsibilities? Get some bad news? Forgot about that thing you committed to? Me too.

In a time full of final exams and projects, last minute meetings and bits of unexpected news or forgotten responsibilities it's hard to remember why you love what you love and what you're passionate about.

As I write this, I want to be honest with you all. Sometimes this blog feels like one more item on my list of to do's.

Partially, this is because of my desire to have continual growth, whether than be followers or new potential for collaborations, but I always find myself wishing for more and not having enough time to do it.

"But how will I build a brand if I do not have continual content? Who wants to collaborate with someone who does not post consistently? What if I'm putting in too much work and no one even cares?"

If you are also feeling like life is winning or you are disappointed because you can't accomplish all of your goals, I encourage you in this period where everything is overwhelming to focus in on what you need to currently accomplish. Do not look at everything you haven't checked off the list and be angry with yourself. Accept what you are capable of and give 100% into it.

Additionally, go back to what you have always loved to do and give yourself a break and do that. Nothing can be completed in a day and no one will overwork themselves and feel the same accomplishment they would feel had they taken time for themselves in the process.

This period is only for now, not forever. Keep working hard, put in the extra hours and put your own style into everything you do!

Wrapped not Wrinkled

7:35 PM

With the Christmas season rushing by, finding an outfit that can work for an office event, family get together or a friends party is crucial. You want a garment that is multi functional and can transition easily from one fun filled bash to the next.

Unlike other outfits, a holiday outfit has to be comfortable (so much food, so little time) but also something you'll love to wear to more than one holiday get together.

The Kokoon "Hendricks Wrap" Dress is the perfect dress for this holiday season. The wrap style is timeless, so you can wear it year after year, the pattern is unique and the fabric does not wrinkle easily so you can fold it up in a suitcase and go. Also, it gives an extra bit of stretch for when you eat too much fudge.

An additional benefit of shopping at Kokoon is that all of their products are made ethically and produced in the USA, so you can feel good about your purchase!

Cool, Cropped and Collected

Have you ever had one of those days where you feel overwhelmed? Right when you think you cannot be any more stressed, one more responsibility is placed on your plate.

You try to finish one final paper, but then you're interrupted with group project work. You want to keep working out, but you have to prioritize studying over health. You find yourself struggling with simple things and you are exhausted in all ways possible.

Me too.

In the chaos and commotion, I find it difficult to focus on the positive. I get discouraged by my lack of strength or ability to do it all.

In God's perfect timing, a friend of mine recently reminded me that it is okay that I cannot do it all on my own, because I was not meant to do it all on my own.

As an american, this is so counter cultural to me. Whether its my lack of trust in the person or their ability, the weakness I feel when I need to ask for help or even simply the desire to have all of the praise when something is accomplished, it all holds me back from welcoming others in and getting assistance.

As I thought about his words more and more I realized that what he said was true. If you look at any great success story, it does not involve anyone getting there by themselves.

No singers can be successful without listeners, no company can make sales without consumers and a movie is only as good as the rating that it gets.

So whether you are in the midst of finals, have a big work project coming up or are going through a tough season in life, don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and ask for help. With a little help from your friends, you'll stay cool, calm and collected.

Thank you Kokoon Fashion for collaborating with me on this blog post! If you liked the pieces from this post, you can follow these links for the CROPPED SWEATER and SKIRT!
