I can't believe I'm saying this, but The Sweltering Sweater turned 1 last week!

In typical Kaylie fashion (I'm late to everything) I am behind on getting this post up. The actual date was May 12th. I must say, it has been quite a marvelous year. This blog started out with myself and Angi and some sweet iPhonography. Since then, multiple talented photographers, 33 outfits, and many hours of editing (and I mean MANY hours of editing) have made this blog what it is today.

I have learned so much (and continue to learn) about the blogging world. It's very scary putting yourself out there for people because you never know how they are going to react. I have also gained knowledge about the fashion world, both the strengths and the weaknesses. My main goals in creating this blog were to use my creative skills, cultivate my love for fashion and to encourage my readers that you are beautiful exactly as you are. To quote 'the beauty construct' by Nayyirah Waheed, (a Tumblr poet, you can see her Tumblr page here),

"you see your face. you see a flaw. how. if you are the only one who has this face."

I want to remind all my readers that you are all #flawless in a way no one else is. You are the only one with your face, your body and your personality. Thank you for the kindness, encouragement and support you have shown me. This year was incredible and I can't wait to see what the next one brings!

My dress is from the Mossimo brand at Target. My belt is also from Mossimo.

I spent this afternoon in my favorite place with my favorite person, Linnea!

We were walking around and Linnu spotted a dog in the window. At first we thought it was fake, but then it blinked. Upon realizing that the puppy was in fact real, we made a plan to enter the furniture store and get to that dog. We decided we were roommates looking for furniture for our apartment, and we carried our plan out to fruition. So, this is Lulu! If I remember right, she is a shiba inu and is 13 years old.

Her owner had an awesome shirt on that I wanted to immediately make into a bro tank, but I thought it would be a bit rude to pet the dog and steal his shirt without buying any merchandise from the store. If you want to see Lulu in real life, you should head over to Pharmacie Home on Lyndale in Minneapolis. (http://pharmaciempls.com/)

Then, we walked for a while until nature called and we stumbled into a coffee shop called I Am Coffee (http://www.iamcoffeeinc.com/home.html) The first reason I would recommend them is because they have a bathroom and that was my initial purpose for going there. But they have great customer service as well! Working in a coffee shop, I have become very spoiled and very particular when it comes to how I like drinks made. The guy was so patient and the coffee was very good!

For the rest of our time together, we ran through uptown finding crazy wall art and taking pictures/selfies until Linnea’s phone Helga died. One building in particular is where a majority of this artwork came from, but I didn’t catch what the place was called.

I ain’t even mad tho.

 With our homies

To leave you with some wise words: Art.Changes.Everything.

Today, myself and two of my closest friends set out on a lunchtime adventure! (Thanks to Angi and Allie for capturing these fun pics)

Our first stop was Hells kitchen:

This chandelier is so amazing, and also very frightening when you’re standing beneath it (Yes, those are very sharp knives hanging from it!)
Our next stop was the MIA (Minneapolis Institute of Art)
